For my first entry, I am focusing on the moments of joy I experienced this year. Personal joy is something that I am still trying to figure out since my focus for most of my life has been curating joy for others. Reflecting back on this year, I am glad I can recognize moments where I connected with those around me and felt joy. I will be sharing these moments through photos.
Started the year hosting NYE at my house. It was a great time with family. Caleb got married! It was a fun time of celebrating and dancing! Went to an art exhibit with my cousin, Angie! I hosted two different housewarming parties. The first was with family. The second was a karaoke night with friends and family. I went to Colorado to visit family. My sister graduated! Family came into town to celebrate! I took Ezekiel to his first day of head start years ago and got to take him to his last day. I really enjoyed the time he came to hang out at my place to play games, watch funny cat videos, and have fun. Saw Hamilton with the family!Hung out with Genki and his brother Steven (not pictured) a few times this year. Watkins family reunion in Kansas City! Visited Nebraska and met my new cousin, Mila! Planned and hosted 20th High School Reunion with my bestie, Marye! Definitely an experience that helped me connect and appreciate a part of myself that often frustrated me!Grayson’s Birthday party. Definitely needed this after receiving some sad news the night before! Aubri’s Quince was a lot of fun. Miguel did a great job! After getting Covid for the first time, I was able to have some fun with my family on my birthday!Ezekiel’s Birthday party and seeing how much he enjoys reading was great. Festival of Lights with the family was a good night! This was a special moment on Christmas Eve!A trip in Nebraska to visit family was also needed. First time I took a whole week off this year! Picture with my Aunt Jennifer. Picture with my cousin, Valentine!
There were a lot of other moments that I don’t have pictures of (unfortunately and fortunately). I hope that in the next year, I will find the perfect balance of being present while also finding time to take pictures to remembers the moments!
